Some Recent Spooky Hallowe’en Creative Writing
Read some of our spooky creative writing stories on Hallowe’en we’ve spent this week working on. Children had a challenge to write a 100 word story, that included lots of great vocabulary, openers, adjectives, adverbs & a good plot! We did a plan, first draft, 2nd draft & final story. A lot of great work done by the children.

Historical Trip to Sligo Abbey
We recently visited Sligo Abbey for a historical tour of the site. We saw the great wealth of carvings including Gothic and Renaissance tomb sculpture, well preserved cloisters and the only sculptured 15th Century high altar to survive in any Irish monastic church. We did some drawings of the engravings and the structure of the abbey while we were there.

Exploring Art
We’re really enjoying our artwork this year. In Oct/Nov we’re exploring painting and we’ve been learning to mix paints to create different tones & tints. We’re focusing on the great artist Georgia O Keeffe at present and we’ve been creating monotone paintings on nature. While focusing on drawing in Sep/Oct, we were inspired by the great artists including Rembrandt, El Greco and Picasso.
